One day, my Gateway LCD monitor just decided to act up and not start right away O_o It would flicker for around 10 secs or so before it would completely turn on. At first, I was ok with it, but then it took longer and longer. Up to the point when it would take TWO hours to power up! Needless to say, I Googled my problem and found that other people have had the same problem with that specific monitor. And the problem usually surfaced after 2-3 or so of monitor life — I had mine for 4-5 years! — when it was already out of warranty. Some of the people said that Gateway adviced them to just buy a new LCD backlight for around $100 or so. Good ol' Newegg was having a huge sale on one of their monitors, a 19" widescreen LCD Acer monitor for $99.99 with FREE shipping! So, I decided to jump on that offer instead of buying a new backlight. I bought it on Monday and it's being delivered today :) I'm hoping to plug it in today when I get home.
